Grooveshark recently had the opportunity to catch up with NYC-based electronic-indie-rockers Conveyor as they stopped through their old stomping grounds, Gainesville; during a national tour. Grooveshark and crew followed the band to their favorite remote location in Gainesville, the La Chua Trail Head, to record an original acoustic rendition of “Woolgatherer” off their new self-titled album.

Conveyor’s highly anticipated self-titled record will be available next week to all of you who have sat patiently on your best behavior in waiting.

The album (available July 17th) has already been met with rave reviews following an incredibly successful launch show  adored by Consequence of Sound and NY Social Status and has been featured as Exfm‘s album of the week.

Conveyor spoke to Gold Flake Paint about the process of recording the album:

“It was a hectic 8 months. I think it went as smoothly as it could have gone given our circumstances, which were a sort of makeshift recording studio in the space where we normally practice. The whole thing was such a process from start to finish, like there weren’t definite periods of writing, then recording, then mixing. It was all just happening at the same time, which I think in the end turned out to be beneficial to our creativity,” TJ said.

And for good reason according to Gold Flake Paint’s review to follow.

“For every inspired pop-hit (and there are many; from the the wonderfully-constructed Mukraker, through the slow-building majesty of Right Sleep, to the dazzling strut of Mane) there is a balance and a counter-point (the barely-there nuanced simmering of Homes); the result being an ever-changing kaleidoscopic outpouring of sound and colour and an overall feel that manages to be structured and finely-crafted yet also bold, brave and brilliantly unleashed.”

Conveyor spoke to Alphabet Bands about some of the tracks on the album, describing Woolgatherer as “Strands of neurons are soaked in a chemical dye and then gathered together to be braided on a loom made from collected dead tree branches. The result is a tether used to hoist piles of asthmatic brains out of a primordial pit.” and Short Hair as “A heavy-handed metaphor for the importance of timeliness in strategic life decisions, but: after all, it grows back anyway, right?.”

Making you hungry to bask in the sonic-wonder of this awesome record?

The opening track from Conveyor‘s debut LP has been posted for first listening on one of our favorite blogs, I Guess I’m Floating today!

The new song Woolgatherer is shiny, complex, endlessly catchy and full of the nuances that make Conveyor the only band of its kind.

IGIF were almost as excited about the track as we are:

“Woolgatherer is a great summertime track, blending up-and-down harmonies with punchy percussion as well as scorching sunshine and afternoon thunderstorms. The vocals remind me of Brooklyn’s ARMS and the snap-crackle percussion/harmony tango of juvenile Animal Collective,” they said.

Paper Garden Records is beyond ecstatic to announce the release of the self-titled debut LP from Brooklyn’s CONVEYOR this Summer (July 17, 2012).  Having only teased the world with an EP and a few singles so far, Conveyor has already made a big impression on the blogosphere, earning accolades from Consequence of Sound, We Listen For You, Earmilk, I Guess I’m Floating, Listen Before You Buy, Baeble Music, Yvynyl, and BPM.  After returning from a successful SXSW 2012, Conveyor are getting ready to embark on a summer of tour dates that include the Fringe Festival (Montreal) and NXNE (Toronto) the weekend of June 15th, back to NYC for their record release show at Mercury Lounge on June 28th, and a full national tour in support of the LP that begins the very next day.

We are very proud to welcome Conveyor to our family and we can’t wait to share their music and their songs with you.

About Conveyor

Conveyor is a Brooklyn-based music project spawned by the fated juncture of a wandering tarot of musicians in Gainesville, FL. Was it kismet or perhaps a primordial summon which led these gentlemen purveyors of sound to individually tune in and migrate North to the bustling seductress known as New York City? Their retort is Sun Ray, a debut EP birthed and released in the warm embrace of Spring 2011. Brimming with lucid, homey synths layered over acoustic guitars and harmonious vocals, they channel extraterrestrial bible-thumpers drenched in love, spouting acid-soaked pop unabashed to beam with the simultaneous embrace of life/death realities backed by a polyrhythmic, pulsing backdrop. A decidedly grand task indeed, and following a string of self-released, handmade EPs, they are releasing their debut full-length album in 2012 with Brooklyn’s Paper Garden Records, a testament to our nature and the nature of ourselves.
