There are few solid bands that come out of Nebraska that haven’t yet been unearthed to the masses. Midwest Dilemma is the one that has been patiently waiting in the shadows for the right moment to emerge. And now that moment has arrived. Omaha’s Entertainment & Arts Awards has agreed, selecting the band’s album, “Timelines and Tragedies” as 2008′s album of the year, beating out the likes of Tilly & The Wall, The Faint and more. Bringing an epic slew of instrumentation to their sound including everything from tuba, flute, saw and accordion to vibraphone, trumpet, mandolin, and saxophone.
Paper Garden Records was founded in Nebraska, so there is an obvious soft spot and deep rooted understanding for these big red cousins of ours. Midwest Dilemma’s tale and reach expands further than Omaha’s booming music scene, though, with an album centered around lead singer Justin Lamoureux’s ancestry in Canada – Montreal to be specific. With both Pop Montreal and the start of Midwest Dilemma’s tour happening this week, we decided that promoting their song entitled “Montreal” would fit right in.
