Last month Conveyor kicked off their tour and their stunning new record with a killer show at the Mercury Lounge in our very own NYC on June 28th.

They showed off their musical prowess with a set mostly dedicated to their anticipated self-titled release that had the audience reveling in the heat of the fine-tuned moment.

Consequence of Sound‘s Harley Brown said Conveyor were “Like nothing I’ve ever heard”.

“It still astounds me that Conveyor can keep so many moving parts together so tightly, between the shifting rhythms and climbing canons that sniff around each other like– for lack of a better descriptor– the honeybee waggle dance,” she said.

Brown also wonderfully documented the intensity of Conveyor and their gorgeous set that found itself punctuated by darkness and some good old fashioned rock’n'roll.

“At the apparent end of their set, Masters asked to kill the lights. “I want you guys to space out to this one,” he said before launching into “Yes, Some Things Are So Heavy”. “I will pick them up,” he sang as the audience members bobbled glowing balloons, which kept falling to the ground and, sure enough, were picked back up.”

But it wasn’t all about spacing out in a darkened room – NY Social Status said that frontman T.J. Masters “becomes a charismatic creature of music and movement from the first note played on stage.”

“Legs moving seemingly on their own accord and body tossed from one end of the stage to the other, Masters’ enthusiasm for his music adds more than a dash of passion to concrete the band’s sound and delivers a dynamic performance for Conveyor’s audience,” they wrote.

It’s certified – “If you’re on the prowl for an amazing performance by a crazy cool band, prowl no longer,” NY Social Scene recommended.

So if you know what’s good for you – check out Conveyor’s tour schedule HERE – they’ll be heading to the West Coast this week in their new fan-endorsed van to spread the catchy tunes.

Just following the announcement of the band’s upcoming debut LP, Harley Brown from Consequence of Sound caught up with the guys from conveyor and provided stunning insight into the gorgeous music and the mathematical approach to songwriting adopted by the Brooklyn four-piece.

Brown chatted to Conveyor about their history as a band, moving to Brooklyn, how they write and their ideas on maintaining an air of “mystery”. CoS describes Conveyor as being like Green Tea Kit-Kats – saying that they’re “Sweet, kind of weird, and infectious”.

Paper Garden Records is beyond ecstatic to announce the release of the self-titled debut LP from Brooklyn’s CONVEYOR this Summer (July 17, 2012).  Having only teased the world with an EP and a few singles so far, Conveyor has already made a big impression on the blogosphere, earning accolades from Consequence of Sound, We Listen For You, Earmilk, I Guess I’m Floating, Listen Before You Buy, Baeble Music, Yvynyl, and BPM.  After returning from a successful SXSW 2012, Conveyor are getting ready to embark on a summer of tour dates that include the Fringe Festival (Montreal) and NXNE (Toronto) the weekend of June 15th, back to NYC for their record release show at Mercury Lounge on June 28th, and a full national tour in support of the LP that begins the very next day.

We are very proud to welcome Conveyor to our family and we can’t wait to share their music and their songs with you.

About Conveyor

Conveyor is a Brooklyn-based music project spawned by the fated juncture of a wandering tarot of musicians in Gainesville, FL. Was it kismet or perhaps a primordial summon which led these gentlemen purveyors of sound to individually tune in and migrate North to the bustling seductress known as New York City? Their retort is Sun Ray, a debut EP birthed and released in the warm embrace of Spring 2011. Brimming with lucid, homey synths layered over acoustic guitars and harmonious vocals, they channel extraterrestrial bible-thumpers drenched in love, spouting acid-soaked pop unabashed to beam with the simultaneous embrace of life/death realities backed by a polyrhythmic, pulsing backdrop. A decidedly grand task indeed, and following a string of self-released, handmade EPs, they are releasing their debut full-length album in 2012 with Brooklyn’s Paper Garden Records, a testament to our nature and the nature of ourselves.

The last time we wrote about Team Genius, we lauded this local pop supergroup for their ability to pull us out of our mid-winter slump. Turns out this is a band for all seasons, as it’s hot as you-know-what outside and Team Genius is nothing short of a breath of fresh air. If this track “Love and Love Songs” off their forthcoming EP is any indication of how great Team Genius’ new stuff is, then we’re all in for a treat. It’s Team Genius at their finest, saccharine yet commanding, as if they’ve ripped the pages out of the pop handbook and make confetti out of its remains.

If you live in New York and you like to have fun, you should probably check out the Team Genius record release show on Friday August 19th at Mercury Lounge with our good pals Quiet Loudly. We’ll be there and you should be too! If not be sure to grab their latest EP, Pop Songs, out August 23rd via all major digital outlets and the Team Genius website.
