The opening track from Conveyor‘s debut LP has been posted for first listening on one of our favorite blogs, I Guess I’m Floating today!

The new song Woolgatherer is shiny, complex, endlessly catchy and full of the nuances that make Conveyor the only band of its kind.

IGIF were almost as excited about the track as we are:

“Woolgatherer is a great summertime track, blending up-and-down harmonies with punchy percussion as well as scorching sunshine and afternoon thunderstorms. The vocals remind me of Brooklyn’s ARMS and the snap-crackle percussion/harmony tango of juvenile Animal Collective,” they said.

Pet Ghost Project retain a rare quality seldom found in the creative world these days. A passion for art that requires significant sacrifice, a gamble to win, a constant struggle against time itself. For the listener though, it is evident that the sacrifice is worth the reward.

Introduced to us by our friends at Ampeater, we have been lucky enough to have the band play not only our Showpaper fundraiser at Death By Audio last year, but in our very own backyard for Hillstock 2010. It was here that we witnessed Pet Ghost Project’s power to persuade perfect strangers into permanent fans. Frontman Justin Stivers manages to weave threads of contrasting sound into one coherent masterpiece, highlighted with vocal ohs, ahs, whistles and bells.

At moments you will hear the quirky arrangement styles of Animal Collective, the pop sense of Pavement, the grunge of Sebadoh, and the epic build of The Antlers (of which Stivers was once the bassist for), but somehow all of these elements form a unique and characteristic sound that is purely Pet Ghost Project.

If you’re lucky enough to be in NYC this month, be sure to catch one of their two Brooklyn shows in support of their brand new album, “Shelf Life”, to be released on February 15th!
