Paper Garden Records is beyond ecstatic to announce the release of the self-titled debut LP from Brooklyn’s CONVEYOR this Summer (July 17, 2012).  Having only teased the world with an EP and a few singles so far, Conveyor has already made a big impression on the blogosphere, earning accolades from Consequence of Sound, We Listen For You, Earmilk, I Guess I’m Floating, Listen Before You Buy, Baeble Music, Yvynyl, and BPM.  After returning from a successful SXSW 2012, Conveyor are getting ready to embark on a summer of tour dates that include the Fringe Festival (Montreal) and NXNE (Toronto) the weekend of June 15th, back to NYC for their record release show at Mercury Lounge on June 28th, and a full national tour in support of the LP that begins the very next day.

We are very proud to welcome Conveyor to our family and we can’t wait to share their music and their songs with you.

About Conveyor

Conveyor is a Brooklyn-based music project spawned by the fated juncture of a wandering tarot of musicians in Gainesville, FL. Was it kismet or perhaps a primordial summon which led these gentlemen purveyors of sound to individually tune in and migrate North to the bustling seductress known as New York City? Their retort is Sun Ray, a debut EP birthed and released in the warm embrace of Spring 2011. Brimming with lucid, homey synths layered over acoustic guitars and harmonious vocals, they channel extraterrestrial bible-thumpers drenched in love, spouting acid-soaked pop unabashed to beam with the simultaneous embrace of life/death realities backed by a polyrhythmic, pulsing backdrop. A decidedly grand task indeed, and following a string of self-released, handmade EPs, they are releasing their debut full-length album in 2012 with Brooklyn’s Paper Garden Records, a testament to our nature and the nature of ourselves.

Ever since October of 2011 we have been blasting I Can Chase Dragons! at high volumes in the PGR office. Our fascination started with the release of the single “Diving For Sunken Treasures” and it snowballed from there. Maybe it was the catchy whistling in this debut track that put our ears on the edge of their seats, eagerly waiting each new release. So it is our pleasure to bring to you yet another amazing new track “Republique.”

ICCD! is the solo project of Julio Gudiño, lead singer of Mexico City’s biggest indie band, The Plastics Revolution. We stumbled upon these guys in the middle of a sidewalk jam session at Barton Springs as SXSW 2011 came to an end. Julio led the band for hours but the crowd would not let them stop, even to the point of them having to play some songs twice. He is no stranger to being the frontman of a band and is now pushing his musical limits to the electronic dream pop side of the spectrum. Drawing influences from Panda Bear and El Guincho as he loops electric textures combining organic and synthesized sounds with lyrics in English and Spanish.

He is currently going to school in Boston and polishing up his live set to include a drummer, bassist and visuals that will blow your mind so be on the lookout for East Coast tour dates in the very near future. He also started a Mexican indie label, Dos Pelícanos, and their first act of awesomeness was to release the I Can Chase Dragons! debut album “Expansión” in January. Vice magazine recently featured an article by Craig Colorusso on his innovative sound installation piece “Sun Boxes”.

The installation that uses 20 solar powered speakers each looping a different guitar note was described by Colorusso as a new approach to audience engagement.

“I wanted to present music without that barrier between audience and performer. The participants are literally surrounded by Sun Boxes. People are part of it not herded into a room to stand before an ensemble. My art is not precious, it is not meant to be hidden behind bulletproof glass. My art is meant for the masses to be lived amongst,” he wrote.

Vice editors wanted Colorusso to write about his work saying that they didn’t quite know how to articulate – “We don’t know how they work, but they sound pretty.”

My Old Kentucky Blog has set free Pree’s fantastic new video – directed and produced by Maxwell Sorensen – saying that it “Masterfully showcases the simple beauty that can be found in every one of Pree’s songs.”

Having first seen this New Zealand film a year or so ago, we quickly fell more and more in love with the brilliant writing and acting that director Taika Waititi has created in this indie masterpiece.

The story revolves around the return of their father, played by Taikai Waititi, after a long absence following the death of their mother during Rocky’s childbirth. These circumstances give the story incredible traction to witness the characters strengths, weaknesses and growth. While the film has moments of sadness and remorse, it is juxtaposed beautifully by one-liners and an overall bittersweet evolution of the characters relationships.
