CONVEYOR

BIO

Conveyor is a Brooklyn-based music project with origins in Gainesville, FL.  Their debut EP, Sun Ray, was birthed in the warm embrace of Spring 2011. Brimming with lucid, homey synths layered over acoustic guitars and thick vocal harmonies, the EP announced the band as extraterrestrial bible-thumpers drenched in love, spouting acid-soaked pop unabashed to beam with the simultaneous embrace of life/death realities backed by a polyrhythmic, pulsing backdrop. Following a string of self-released, handmade EPs, they released their debut full-length album in 2012 with Brooklyn’s Paper Garden Records.  The album finds the band reaching further into themselves to expand their sonic palette, with lyrics and music representing a testament to our nature and the nature of ourselves. After appearing on a number of year-end lists for 2012, they headed to SXSW 2013 as an official selection of the festival. They are currently thinking about existence vis-a-vis a set of irreconcilable truisms which instill great phenomenological anxiety, to be demonstrated in their upcoming follow-up to last year’s debut.

Conveyor have played with notable bands such as Freelance Whales, Hundred Waters, Kishi Bashi and Port St Willow. The band toured North America in the Summer of 2012 spending 5 weeks on the road and visiting over 30 cities!

“Conveyor likes its vocal-harmony oohs and aahs, its staggered and coiling two-guitar patterns and its odd meters: 5/4, 7/4, 9/4, all played as if their little rhythmic hiccups were smooth and unremarkable” – Jon Pareles, The New York Times

“The debut LP from Conveyor is a bold first offering that shows a band artistically naked, presenting themselves and their thoughts unedited, with no creative boundaries. The result is a musical adventure filled with wonderment guided by a band that stands alone as themselves, not a shadow of others.” - We Listen For You

“Combining the percussion of afropop with moody electronics and rhythmic patterned vocal placement, their sound is bouncy and creative… Time signatures that break out of the 4/4 mold suggest artists not content to rely on the safety of familiar patterns”  – Deli Magazine
